According to data analysis by the Australian Energy Commission, the average size of new rooftop solar systems in Australia has climbed to a new height, with the average size of a typical PV system now exceeding 9 kW.
The size of rooftop solar installations continues to rise, with the Australian Energy Commission's (AEC) analysis of the Clean Energy Regulatory Authority's (CER) latest Carbon Market Quarterly Report showing that the average size of rooftop PV systems installed in Australia in the second quarter of 2023 was 9.3 kW. Compared to 8.7 kW in the first quarter of 2023, the average installed system size in the second quarter increased slightly and was well above the accepted standard of 6.6 kW; 4mm Solar Cable;Dc Wire For Solar Panels;Solar Pv Cable;Solar Panel Extension Cord
Households in the north installed the largest number of roof systems in the second quarter. Between April 1 and June 30, 2023, the average installed system size peaked at 14.1 kW, followed closely by Queensland and South Australia, which each had an average installed system size of 10.1 kW during the period. 10 Awg Solar Cable
The AEC said the growth in system size continued a trend in recent years, with Australian households and businesses keen to take advantage of technological advances and falling market costs to seek greater energy independence.
By the end of the second quarter, Australia's total installed rooftop solar capacity had reached 20.5 GW, with more than 61,000 new systems added to the grid in three months, for a total installed capacity of 520 MW.
The number of installations in the second quarter was down from 80,300 rooftop PV systems installed in Australia in the first quarter of 2023, but the AEC notes that the data is reported with a 12-month lag and is expected to be revised upwards for the second quarter. 6mm Dc Cable;Solar Battery Cables;Solar Powered Extension Cord;
"According to the forecast, the final number is expected to be even higher, with approximately 91,000 additional rooftop PV systems expected to be installed by the end of the reporting period," the report said, "The surge in installations is expected to bring the total installed capacity to 827 MW, further indicating that the adoption of rooftop solar solutions will increase in the second quarter of 2023."
